The attitude keep increasing as one drives along. The route takes
you through high passes expansive valleys and mountains. The greenery keeps
changing and the brown plains appear. One continues to have the grand sight
of SHISHA PONGMA throughout. Jugal Himal and Ganesh Parvat could be sighted
if weather permits. The kidney shaped PEIKU LAKE has turquoise complexion at
an attitude of 4600 metres. Southwest point is the best viewing location. One
can see SHISHA PONGMA on the south and can witness on side of the lake with
the snow clade peaks and on the opposite a range of brown and barren mountains.
A few refer to this lake as RUDRA lake. Wind blow strongly during afternoons.
South point is the usual camp site. One must see the lake view at night if possible.
The great saints Milerapa, who is accredited with one hundred thousand persons
on Buddhism lived here. There are caves, where he is supposed to have meditated.
One reaches the river Brahmaputra. The river is crossed with the help of
ferry. On the other side of the bank, the town of Saga is situated. This is
small settlement with few shops and has a couple of guest houses. The road
from here joins FRIENDSHIP HIGHWAY. Over night as Tibetan Guest house / camp.
