Day 2: Distance 20 Kms - From Dirapuk to
Zuthulphuk via Dolma La (Pass). Night halt at Zuthulphuk Or in between
This is the toughest day of your tour. The initial stretch of 7 Kms. between
Diraphuk to Dolma La is killing steep and extremely tiring. The Climb is from
4800 metres to 5700 metres. Be deliberately slow and use the walking stick.
Whenever you feel tired, stop, rest and then proceed. It will take about 2 hrs
to reach shiva stahl. It is the burial ground. Buddhist pray " Dirjejigies"
(Lord of Death - Yama).
Offerings are made here in the form of hair, nails, blood, clothing etc. Some
buddhist devotees will sit at this place and visualise their death and act as
if they are dead. Dying at thsi place is considered as virtuous. A little further,
Kailash projects out in a sharp conical form behind the jutting peak of Manjughosha.
After half an hour of steep climb, you reach at the summit of Dolma La (5700
metres). Dolma La is the ******** of Tara - The Consort of Lord Shiva.
On the right and down below, is the Holy lake of Gauri Kund (Yokmo Tso). It
is 200 metres below. It is an Emerland Green Lake. It is considered to be the
Holy Lake and one of the highest lake in the world, that remains frozen most
of the times throughout the year. The water of this lake is considered to be
so holy, so pure that it can cure all the diseases.
Coming down from Dolma La is as tough as going up. Further, your trek becomes
********************windy gorge of Zuthulphuk. Normally, this distance is too
large to cover in a day. This ************ seeing the conditions of the yatris,
most of the times, camping is done *******************Zuthulphuk.
Day 3 : Distance 12 Kms. - From Zuthulphuk
to Darchen. End of the Parikrama
It is more or less a flat trek. However, there are some streams to cross. During
the last leg of journey, one can have the grand view of Barkha plains, Holy
Lake Mansarovar Rakshasa Taal and majestic Gurla mandhata. The last portion
of the parikrama is covered by Land Cruisers arrive Darchen and this is the
end of parikrama.
