Detailed Itinerary
DAY
1:
Drive 3km, from Uttarkashi to Gangotri drive further 7km to reach Kalyani,
the road head to the trek. A 5km steep trek through a thick forest leads to
Agoda (2280m), Dinner and overnight stay at Agoda.
DAY 2:
Breakfast and trek 16km, to Dodital. The first 8km till Manjhi is a steep
climb. This route runs through a thick forest with a fine population of the
Monal, or the Himalayan peacock. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3:
Breakfast and a little climb from the lake for the best view of the Bandarpoonch
peak (6387m). Trek down to the lake, then to Agoda. Dinner and overnight stay
at Agoda.
DAY 4:
Breakfast and trek back to Kalyani, the road head, and drive back to Uttarkashi.
Best Time for Treks: March to June, and mid-September
to end-November.
