Situated
in the state of Rajasthan this site is datable to 700 b.c.-200AD.the finding
of this site is further divided into four major period,there is variety and
abandance of antiquity in the lower layers which suggest that this site was
most properous during this period. There are findings of various objects and
ornaments with the use of copper. The fire destroyed house were made up of wattle
and daub. This site is located on the bank of Hanuman Nullah.
The first settlement at this site was of the farmers who cultivated at the banks
of this Nullah.The finding of period four yeilds black and red ware and the
pots of fine quality with shining burnished surface, besides this there are
findings of red ware, gray ware and black slipped ware.Also it includes terracotta
human and animals figurine,toycart frame & wheels,sling balls,net sinkers,beeds
of terracotta and various iron tools like daggers,chiesels and knife.Period
III findings are terracotta sealings with four early brahmi characters is also
an important finding of this site.
Besides some of human terracotta and animals figurines,an another terracotta
sealing of period IV was also found.The most intresting and fine piece of prehistoric
art is a human figurine with big breasts and prominent genital organs and a
male head showing hair tied in artistic knot.The animals figurine founded are
also unique with bullls with collors etc.
