Situated in district Ratnagiri of Maharashtra it is an un protected palaeolithic site on the coast of Konkan as suggested by the name the area is abound with several natural caves with some caves having perennial water supply in form of ponds and streams.This site provides the sparse evidence of occupation by the prehistoric man. excepting mesolithic occupation in a cave at Hathkhamba have got authentic evidence of prehistoric occupations.

During the excavation in summers of 2001 this site has yealded a beautiful cleaver made of basalt.This cleaver was discovered on a slope close to a natural caves. Just outside the cave is a pond which receives stream water even during the summer. There are emple of discoveries made at this site and this encourages a systemic exploration of this prehistoric site.
The study is expected to open a new vista in the study of human adaptation in the climed at konkan. This time explorations at this site is likely to take place in about 4 weeks between October 2001 to March 2002.
