Located
along the Indian Border in the terai, Royal Chitwan National Park is the Nepal's
premier wildlife - viewing area. It primarily famous for its good population
of Bengal Tiger.The park is a former hunting ground & covers nearly 650 square
kilometres of dense forest & riverine grasslands. & is home to nearly 60 Bengal
tigers.
The best time to vist Chitwan is march to May, during this time elephant grass
in the jungle is too short to provide cover to the Rhinos. There are plenty
of options to visit the core area of the reserve such as Jeep safari, Elephant
ride & if somebody is looking for good adventure than one can a half or full-day
Jungle walk which is the best way to see wildlife from the closest.
Chitwan National Park has wide range of flora & faunna which includes a large
population of Indian single- Horned Rhino, Gaur ( Indian Bison ), Sloth Bear,
Leopard , Wild Boar, freshwater Gangetic Dolphin, Marsh Gharials , Crocodiles
, Many species of deer & monkeys, & also provides home to over 400 species of
birds.
In Chitwan area there are two Elephant camps which serves as the breeding
camp for the elephants where you may be lucky enough to see a baby elephant.
