Location: District Baramulla (J&K) - Lat 34º 12'N, Long 74º 22'E

The site of ancient Ushkapura , city established by Hushika ,the Kushan king is located about 50km west north -west of Srinagar .The excavated site is represented by a stone platform probably the stupa by Lalitaditya. The quadrangular around it is surrounded by a wall of stone in mud. The extraordinary thickness of the base of the wall has led to the presumption of the evidence of cells along the inner periphery.The chinese travellar Huin-Tsang provide an acount of the Buddhist edifices at Ushkura and supposed to spent a night at Huskeerapura on his entry into the kashmir valley through the Baramulla pass , saw a flourishing Buddhist establishment at the place.The stupa itself was built over the scanty earlier foundation and outside the compound wall on the northern side were found terracotta figuresexcuted in the style of the latest Gandhara stuco relief .It appears that the facade of the entire front wall , which faced the river Jhelum ,covar once embellished with a spectacular mural relivo , in terracotta having a collossal images of the Buddha and other figures
