Coorg
lies 100 kms. west of Mysore. It is a plateau that comprises of rugged mountain
terrains, coffee plantations, lush paddy fields with cardamom jungles. This
area can be rated as one of the most beautiful places in South India. Coorg
is the place of historical importance, the first evidence of which dates back
to 8th Century.
The important places of interest are -
Madikeri is the capital of Coorg which lies on midway between Mysore and Mangalore.
Although this place recieves less number of foreign travellers but it is a pleasant
enough town with some of the major attractions like Omkareshwar Shiva Temple,
Tombs of Rajahs, St. Mark's Church and a small Museum.
