historic city is situated on the east of the Thar desert. It was once the largest
princely state in Rajputana.
The most important of Jodhpur are -
MEHRANGARH FORT
this fort is one of the most important symbol of Rajput valor as well as royal
extravagance. The external boundary of the fort was built to stop the enemy
aggression. There are total seven gates proceed the inner sanctum that housed
the royalty. This fort is now a museum. The entire palace complex is comprised
of several palaces built during different regimes and for different purposes.
The most notable are Janki Mahal, Moti mahal and Phool mahal. All the palaces
have got finely painted mural with golden touch,heavily carved sandal wood
ceiling,mirrored was and beautifully decorated archways. There are several
other artifacts displayed throughout the museum which includes a 250 years
old pure silk tent,carved solid silver elephant seat etc.
JASWANT THANDA
It is pillared marble memorial to the former ruler Jaswant Singh II,He was
a popular ruler and his memorial is connected by road with the fort and also
contains memorial of the ruled who preceded Jaswant Singh.

MANDOR
Between 6th & 14th century, it was capital of Parihar Rajputs. It is famous
for an elaborate garden containing chhatris as memorial to the rulers of the
era.
OSIAN
2 hours drive away from Jodhpur to the Rajasthan is largest collection of
early Hindu and Jain temples. The oldest group of temples, the Vishnu &
Harihara temples,belong to the 8th & 9th century & boast beautifully
& ornate carvings and murals. The other important temple is 12th century
built Saehiya Mata temple remarkable for its fine sculptures,carved ceiling
and mirrored pillars.
Among Jain temples Mahavira Jain temple is most remarkable & oldest built
in 8th century and renovated in 10th century. Apart from these temples sun temple
is also worth a visit. There are also several other places of tourist interest.
