Mysore Palace
It is the symbol of royalty. This beautiful palace was built by Maharajas
of Mysore. The reconstruction os palace was completed in 1912 with a budget
of 4.2 million Rupees. The Maharaja of Mysore still resides in a part of the
palace. The palace has got museum and a couple of temples in its premises.
Chamundi Hill
Famous for Shri Chamundeshwari Temple situated on a hill top, which is 1062
mtrs. high, the temple is dominated by towering 7 storeyed (40 mtrs. high)
Gopuram. From this place, one can enjoy the superb view of surrounding countryside.
Near this place, there is a famous 5 mtrs. high Nandi (Lord Shiva's Bull),
which was carved out of a solid rock in 1659. This sculpture is one of the
largest of its kind.

Wellington lodge, Rangacharlu memorial hall, etc.

Somnathpur : Is 33kms from Mysore, It is famous for SRI CHANNAKESHARA
TAMPLE dating back to 1260 AD. Temple is a beutiful unspoiled building and is
a fine example of Hoysala Architecture. The walls of the are covered with superb
sculptures.
Talakad & Sivasamudram : This place got the remains of the capital
of Ganga Dynesty dating 4th to 5th century , there is a fine Hoysala temple
of 12th century, in every 12 Years the performance of PANCHALINGA DARSHAN is
performed in the temple. Another 25 kms from here River Cauvery drops more than
50mts at ht waterfalls of Sivasamudram.

: Situated on a long island in the River Cauvery , this place is 16kms from
Mysore , the area has got the ruins of the capital of HYDER ALI & TIPU SULTAN
. The fortress here has got a mosque and the SRI RANGANATH SWAMY TEMPLE. The
Tipu Sultan's summer palace THE DARIA DAULAT BAGH is just 1km further is the
impressive Gumbaz of Tipu Sultan & his father Hyder Ali.
Ranganathitoo Bird Sanctuary : is 3kms from SRIRANGAPATNAM situated on
one of the 3 islands of river Cauvery it is a great place to watch STORKS, SPOONBILLS,
DARTERS, EGRETS, CORMORANTS & IBISES.
