Gondal
is 250 kms from Ahmedabad. It is a pictureque town with a number of heritage
buildings with graceful archietecture, the Naulakha Darbargadh palace being
the most important one. Gondal has the only shakti-Peethasthanam with a temple,
in the whole of India. A life-size marble idol of Ma Bhuvaneshwari in the gorgeous
temple deifies the whole centre with sublime bliss. Devotees, both Indian and
foreign, visit the temple in large numbers and have Darshana of "GADI"
of Brahmaleen Jagadguru Acharya, Shri Charanatirth Maharaj Shri, the illustrious
founder of the peethasthanam.
Gondal is also attraction for bird watchers. Birds like peacocks, peafowl, cuckoos,
egrets and other species of birds commonly found here. Swami Narayan temple
and Veri Lake are the other places that attracts tourists.
